MSK Physiotherapy Service

Posted on:

We now offer a “digital first” model. Initial appointments will be a video consultation appointment with an Enhanced Clinical Physiotherapist. Patients requiring a subsequent follow-up appointment will then be seen face-to-face.  A limited number of initial face-to-face appointments are available for patients without technology but the wait for these appointments is longer.

A recent patient’s feedback of a video consultation – “The Physiotherapist was very professional and asked lots of questions regarding my injury, as well as giving plenty of useful advice and options for further face to face treatment etc. I’m very happy and grateful for the service provided.”

Patients can refer themselves, without the need to see another healthcare professional first, by calling the Physiotherapy Appointments booking line on 0300 456 9987 (8.30am – 12 noon, Monday to Friday) or via the online Patients Know Best self-referral appointment service.

Please note: At peak times the booking line can be very busy. Please continue to try and a booking clerk will become available.

If you are unable to keep an appointment, please telephone the booking line above to cancel.

Preparing for a video consultation:

The link for the video consultation via Attend Anywhere will be sent to you via a text message or email when you book your appointment. If you have not received the link within 24 hours, please contact the booking team to have it resent. The booking team can help and will talk you through what to do.

Tips for a successful consultation:

  • We recommend you practice using the link a minimum of 48 hours prior to your appointment to eliminate any technical problems on the day, which could result in having to rebook your appointment.
  • If you aren’t confident with technology, it might be helpful to have a family member or friend present to assist you.
  • You may be asked to show the body part you are discussing, so a quiet private area is always advised for the consultation. This does not include a car or van, and you should not be driving during your appointment.
  • You can use the platform on any PC, Mac or iOS/Android device, using Google Chrome (download for PC/Mac/Android devices) or Safari (download for iOS devices and Macs).
  • For all trouble shooting information please see our video consultations page. For further guidance about how to get the most out of your appointment take a look at the Telerehab toolkit Telerehab toolkit – University of Plymouth
